Donna I. and Family MEMBER SINCE 1995

Family ties run deep here.

You don’t have to be a school employee to become a Member. Sometimes, your family is your connection. If someone in your immediate family is already a Member, you may be eligible too.

We know school employees don’t do their work alone. They’re supported by partners, parents and kids who share in their commitment to education and service. That’s why we extend Membership to those connected by family, supporting the people behind school employees. When you join, you’re not just opening an account — you’re becoming part of a Credit Union built on values, trust and community. And once you’re a Member, your own immediate family becomes eligible too, helping your family tree grow even stronger. We’re proud to be California’s largest Credit Union — and even prouder of how we’ve grown: one Member, one family, one connection at a time. If you’ve ever wondered how to join, the answer might be closer than you think.

You work hard for your money, and we want you to keep more of it.

Keeping Membership in the Family

Mike has been a Member of the Credit Union for almost 40 years and a middle-school teacher for 32. Now retired, he's enjoying the fruits of his labor. Over the years, Mike and his family have relied on our products and services, including car loans, savings accounts and retirement plans. "My youngest son bought his sixth car with the help of the Credit Union," he says. He's keen on Mobile Banking, too. "I can monitor my accounts and transfer money to my kids when I need to."

Sheela H., Member Since 2014
DR. SHEELA H. MEMBER SINCE 2014

Family Membership Makes a Difference

Going through a rough patch financially, Sheela had been turned down by other institutions when trying to refinance some properties and wasn't up for another rejection. Fortunately, she had a friend who was a Member who wouldn't take no for answer. And that was the turning point for Sheela. In addition to shoring up her finances, Sheela has been able to help her three children graduate college debt-free. "For my kids to be a part of SchoolsFirst FCU, a trusted financial institution, is remarkable," she says. "I allowed my children to develop a relationship with the Credit Union on their own, and so now it's just second nature for them."

FAQs

Immediate family of Members are eligible to join:

  • All couples: Unmarried couples who live together, not just spouses.
  • Parents and children — all children, related by blood, marriage or adoption, no matter their age.
  • Grandparents and grandkids: Whether you live under the same roof or not.

What about extended family, like aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews? They aren’t eligible on their own, but they can qualify through a parent or sibling who becomes a Member.

If you're an immediate family member, you can show documentation that proves your relationship, such as a birth, marriage or adoption certificate.

If you're an unmarried couple living together, you can show a Declaration of Domestic Partnership or other documentation that demonstrates shared financial obligations. Some examples include a shared utility bill, joint tax return or joint credit card.

Yes. Once you join, your immediate family members become eligible to join too.
